Steering Committee
Charter
Purpose
This committee provides a system-wide forum for development and acquisition of administrative systems with a goal of improving communication and continuously improving the design and performance of administrative systems, integrated/interface commercial software service, and all other products and services. The committee provides recommendations and advice to the ITS CIO.
Committee Co-Chairs:The Deputy CIO or designee and a Campus member elected annually by the committee members.Sponsor
The sponsor of each of the Steering Committees is the MnSCU CIO. The CIO both advises and consults with other Vice Chancellors regarding recommendations or proposals emerging from the Steering Committees.
Membership
Membership to this committee includes six Campus CIOs, five members of the ITS Management Team, and four at large members, representing Academic Affairs, Student Services, Human Resources and Finance. Committee members will be selected by the CIO based on the technology vision and enthusiasm those at large members could bring to the committee. The CIO will annually review membership make changes after considering needs for continuity and expertise as well as the need to encourage change and opportunities to participate.

- To advise the CIO on tools, languages, databases, platforms and other technology components associated with the ISRS Infrastructure and applications
- To recommend review procedures, testing and documentation requirements, performance expectations, and infrastructure requirements associated with vendor provided application software
- To provide direction in setting ITS development priorities, plans, and resources allocations needed
- To support alignment of college/university technology with those of each other and the Office of the Chancellor
- To monitor major system wide technology initiatives and recommend course corrections as needed, regularly reviewing progress and issues with the responsible Office of the Chancellor representative or project manager.
- To coordinate and communicate plans, priorities, changes and progress to colleges and university CIOs

Communication
The committee chair will post the revised agenda and action items on the ITS web site. The Campus representatives will develop additional communication mechanisms to ensure thorough communication of activities to all colleges and universities.
