System Technology Strategy Council
Charter

Purpose:
To provide system wide guidance to the Leadership Council Technology Committee, through recommendations to the Chief Information Officer/Vice Chancellor for Information Technology related to long-term technology strategies. The System Technology Strategy Council will work to align IT with system strategic directions and comment on progress toward achieving system IT goals.

Responsibilities:
- Provide input into system wide information technology strategic planning processes and directions
- Provide input into the development and implementation of assessment tools that allow us to better understand and advance the effectiveness of technology deployments around the system
- Ensure appropriate alignment of IT initiatives with the system strategic directions and annual work plan
- Promote improved communication among all system wide IT stakeholders and communities.
Expectations
- Attend all meetings (approximately one per semester)
- Review meeting materials and be prepared to participate actively in meeting business
- Seek to balance the interests of individual stakeholders with the interests of students and the well being of the system as a whole
- Work toward consensus solutions and/or decisions.
Communication
The committee will post meeting summaries on the ITS Web site after they are reviewed via listserv by members. Members are expected to communicate fully with the group that appointed them. Members should bring information from their peers or other external stakeholders to the attention of the council.
Key Strategic Projects
- Provide input to help better develop and coordinate system and campus IT planning initiatives
- Work with Office of the Chancellor staff to develop assessment instruments (i.e., ITS Customer Satisfaction Survey, IT Success Scorecard) that help to benchmark and track progress in technology-related areas
- Help develop and promote a compelling vision for the future that will ensure the appropriate use of technology to enhance teaching and learning activities across the state.
