Office of the Chancellor StarLAN Wireless Service
StarLAN at Wells Fargo Place and MCTC locations
StarLAN, the first service that uses StarID for login, just launched at the Wells Fargo and MCTC locations of the Office of the Chancellor. This new service provides visiting employees at the Office of the Chancellor with wireless internet access at the Wells Fargo and MCTC locations.

- What is StarLAN?
StarLAN is a coordinated wireless network service designed to provide guests and visiting employees, staff and students access to the Internet through a basic wireless service. Each Minnesota State Colleges and Universities campus can choose to provide and support the StarLAN service. Today, this service is available at the Wells Fargo and MCTC Locations of the Office of the Chancellor.
The WFP StarLAN wireless network service DOES NOT PROVIDE ENCRYPTION or other security to protect your data during wireless transmission. -
Will I have access to StarLAN?
Access to StarLAN is now available to the first group of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities employees. This includes some Office of the Chancellor employees and institutional Chief Information Officers (CIOs). More visiting employees will be added every few weeks. Contact the StarID Help Desk to determine your eligibility

* First and last name
* College/University
* TechID
* College or University email
Requests are processed twice weekly. Please submit all requests before noon Monday or noon Wednesday for availability by noon the next business day. - How do I connect to StarLAN?
If you encounter any problems, contact the starid.helpdesk@csu.mnscu.edu - Why can't I print from StarLAN?
StarLAN provides internet access only. Print services are only offered to local network accounts. If you need to print something while visiting the Office of the Chancellor, please coordinate with the person you are visiting - they can usually print a document for you after receiving it via email attachment. - Why can't I access some of my normal internal websites? Some internal websites at the Office of the Chancellor and other campus locations may not be accessible from StarLAN due to the access control rules in place for these sites. StarLAN is configured to reach all publically accessible web sites.
- Should I use StarLAN or OOC Staff Wireless?
If you are an Office of the Chancellor employee using an Office of the Chancellor-managed laptop, you already have access to OOC Staff Wireless and do not need StarLAN. If you wish to use a personal laptop at the Office of the Chancellor you can receive Internet access via StarLAN. You may not access OOC Staff Wireless using a personal laptop.
