FY2008 Firewall Replacement
Towards improving the infrastructure-security and there by network performance and uptime, the following objectives are identified:
one-to-one swap of all Cisco 515, 515UR and 525 models firewalls with Cisco ASA5510, 5520 and 5540 model firewalls. The model chosen will be based on the campus traffic volume.
An estimated 70 sites will be upgraded with new firewalls. These are one-to-one swaps i.e., the old firewall is replaced with a new one with out any modifications to the rest of the infrastructure. No additional work efforts will be required other than configuring and physically deploying the firewall. A detailed list of sites to be upgraded will be prepared as part of the project planning.
40 of the 70 firewalls have already been purchased with FY07 funds.
