Storage Area Network Upgrade
PROJECT IS COMPLETE.
Lease SAN and Enterprise Switch (storage director) capacity. Recommended technology - H/P EVA 8000 with approximately 7 terabytes of high performance disk (tier 1 disk) and 12 terabytes of lower performance disk (tier 2 disk) to supplement existing EVA SAN subsystems and 64 port Storage Director(s) to replace old technology.
To acquire recommended capacity MnSCU takes advantage of an H/P and Brocade promotion (ends July 31, 2006). Promotion description: when a customer purchases an EVA 8000 and one 64 port Storage Director; the customer receives a second Storage Director chassis free.
Purchase additional Storage Director port blades as needed to support D/R site.
Assumption: D2L uses shared SAN at D/R site because the SQL Server does not require Data Center Certification for the D/R site.
The additional capacity would be installed at either the production data center or the D/R site. The site determination will occur when the detail project plan is authored.
