Learning Objects Expansion
Developing learning objectives will decrease course development costs at the colleges and universities. A course may take as much as $50,000 to develop. The savings will accrue to the campuses in reduced development time and increased quality of courses. An e-commerce interface will allow colleges and universities to share learning objects (training) and more cost-effectively deliver training to businesses. The e-commerce interface will require work from D2L to provide links to the LOR.
Deliverables:
1. Develop approximately 150 learning objects in 4 discipline areas that can be shared across the system.
2. Remove barriers to CT use if learning objects and online delivery (eg., develop e-commerce interface) and develop 100 additional objects in high demand training areas to be shared among all customized training units.
Timeframe 1: Identify disciplines in fall 2007. Convene discipline specific faulty groups in winter 2007. Identify learning objects to develop in winter 2007. Develop learning objects in summer 2008. Incorporate into courses in spring 2008.
Timeframe 2: Identify additional high demand areas and identify barriers through MJSP report in fall 2007. Develop and address in winter 2007/08. Deliver in spring and summer 2008.
