Incident Response
Security and integrity of data has become critically important to all organizations worldwide. Dependence on information, digital or otherwise, is integral to business operations and all data and information must be protected accordingly. A breach of any campus-networked system can have a detrimental impact to other networked systems and represent a liability to campuses and the institution as a whole. The loss of critical systems (due to natural or man-made causes) can impact MnSCU business operations until the critical systems are restored.
Incident response is a primary line of defense imed at limiting the impact a security incident can have on other systems. Continuity of operations addresses the need to provide uninterrupted availability of ITS resources. These resources support key business processes when the organization is facing an external event that makes it impossible to use existing facilities and systems. We believe that these two activities are so closely related that they should be highly coordinated, both in planning and execution.
