Prinsys
Prinsys (PRogram INventory SYStem) was designed in 1995-96 as a stand-alone system. Prinsys is a transaction based system (1,000 to 1,400 transactions per year) used to maintain the MnSCU official inventory of 3,800 academic programs. Prinsys transactions include the review and approval of applications for new programs, program closures and suspension, program relocations and replications, program redesigns, and new program locations.
Prinsys must comply with state statute (Chapters 136A and 136F), federal legislation (Carl D. Perkins Act of 2006), Board of Trustees policies 3.36 Academic Programs and 3.32 College Faculty Credentialing and related chancellors procedures (3.36.1 and 3.32.1).
Presently, which is an Access TM application, is unsupported and non-compliant with current policy and legislative requirements.
Supported with $45,000 of Academic and Student Affairs legislative funds, during May to August of 2007, a business analyst defined requirements for a redesigned program inventory system. Deliverables included business process modeling (stories), event (state) diagrams, logical models, sourcing flow, and data base, operations and technology requirements.
