Vulnerability Management Initiative
The objective of this multi-phased project is to establish and ongoing vulnerability management capability across the system to:
• Improve the quality of IT infrastructure, management, and enhance the overall quality of service delivery.
• Proactively reduce the costs associated with outages and interruptions caused by computer and device vulnerabilities not identified or corrected, but which could have been prevented if the vulnerability was mitigated.
• Detect trends among identified vulnerabilities and campus networks.
• Provide quantitative comparative analysis of found vulnerabilities to campuses. Allowing campuses to determine where they stand among peers can allow for subjective and objective discussions and responses, such as increased awareness, budgetary alignment, and proactive corrections.
• Improve consistency of procedures and accuracy of identifying vulnerabilities within System by creating an operational framework.
This project will also provide the technical framework for a formal Vulnerability Management Program if/when MnSCU decides to proceed with that initiative.
